Paulette was born and raised in Southern California. As a child, her family traveled throughout the Western United States. Every trip was a journey of discovery for me. My father was a “rockhound”, so filling my pockets with a collection of rocks was easy for me. My “collection” was not only for the beauty I saw in the stones, but for the memory they provided for each particular trip.
She has spent her life in creating; as a quilter, an art-to-wear clothing designer, and a metalsmith. Besides being self taught, Paulette earned a M.F.A. in Studio Arts. Since receiving her MFA in 2006, I have continued the expansion of my skills and craftsmanship as an artist, and am now focusing on the art of making jewelry using natural materials.
“Working with natural materials is an exciting part of the jewelry making process for me; not only because every stone ignites a memory or a journey, but also because it ignites my need for creating; making things that I can share with others. It is this sharing that brings me fulfillment.”
I design the simplest, most delightful piece I can, because I want the stone, gemstone, pearl, or other material, to spark an idea or memory for the wearer, which can be shared. Each piece of jewelry is unique. I hope for the wearer of my jewelry to experience as much joy and pleasure wearing it, as I get from making it.For these reasons, my pieces have been created in a wide range of price points.
